Cylindrical and rectangular rubber bellows: types

Rubber bellows are essential components for a wide range of industrial applications, considering that their main function is to protect both parts that make a range of movements (axial or angular), and fixed mechanical parts. They are formed from a single piece, without joints, and are the right component for ensuring both the solidity of the installation and the efficiency of the movement, without causing limitations or obstacles of any kind.

Due to their versatility, they are made in the widest range of shapes, sizes and thicknesses, and are used in sectors ranging from automotive to hydraulics, as well as the aerospace and pharmaceutical sectors.

GB S.r.l. has been designing and manufacturing rubber bellows since 1976, gaining enough experience and skill to be able to support you for all your production needs.

Applications for cylindrical and rectangular rubber bellows

Bellows are installed on a range of mechanical parts, such as transmission couplings or both hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. They are therefore necessary in all forms of installation involving moving parts and, together with lip gaskets and other connecting elements, are essential for guaranteeing a fluid and functional connection.

The design and the material for rubber bellows are always chosen to ensure that these components are able to protect moving parts from dust, wooden or metal shavings, water spray, damp, liquid or oily substances, chemical or atmospheric agents that may compromise their function. This is why they are essential for parts such as, for example, brake and clutch pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, worm screws, joints and electric cable conduits.

According to their application, either cylindrical or rectangular rubber bellows can be made, adapting to the type, quality and quantity of movement required.

Materials for rectangular and cylindrical rubber bellows

These essential joints must be made from compounds that are able to resist particularly challenging operating environments, contact with all chemical and atmospheric agents, ageing, wear and even extreme temperatures.

Elastomers are the most suitable materials for this purpose, given their typical chemical and physical properties, their resistance to deformation and their ability to withstand external stress.

The materials that we use at GB to make your rubber bellows include:

  • EPDM
  • FVMQ
  • FKM
  • NR
  • CR
  • NBR-PVC
  • HNBR
  • NBR
  • ACM
  • AU
  • SBR
  • VMQ

Silicone rubber bellows

Silicone is used, in particular, to produce rubber bellows that need to offer elevated resistance to high temperatures and to both direct and indirect heat. Silicone elastomers also resist well at low temperatures and stand up well against external agents and oxidisation.

Non-stick, non-toxic and non-allergic qualities further extend the range of possible applications for silicone rubber bellows.

GB S.r.l. rubber bellows

GB S.r.l. has been making industrial rubber gaskets to design for almost 50 years, and now boasts skills that render it one of the leading Italian and European companies in the sector. The benefits of working with us include the professionalism of our team, efficiently organised processes for planning and production, strict quality control of every component and full knowledge of materials.

The latter allows us to always identify (or create, if necessary) the most suitable material for your specific needs, even the most complex and challenging.

In collaboration with qualified external partners, our laboratories are able to study your requests and develop innovative materials for moulding that will be exactly in line with your needs, and compliant with the quality and safety regulations that they are required to adhere to.

Every GB component is subject to meticulous checks that follow the entire process from design to manufacture and to the shipping of your finished products. All of this with a constant focus on sustainability, on reducing our environmental impact, and on the values of respect and responsibility towards the people involved in our production chain.
